Scene and image credits

The coast and lighthouse use AI-generated artwork approved by the team. The paper surfaces use the credited photographs below.

WebGPU ocean simulation
web-ocean by Maksymilian Dendura, used under the MIT license. The animated water is rendered by code; the fallback uses the approved coast artwork.
Coast and lighthouse artwork
Generated with OpenAI image generation on October 24, 2026, and approved by the team. Matching day and night landscape and portrait scenes keep the coast visible on different screens. A transparent headland sits over the simulated moving water. Daylight follows the viewer's local clock from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Message typeface
Kalam Regular by Indian Type Foundry, under the SIL Open Font License.
Postcard illustrations
Claude arranges project SVG cutouts and emoji into a small collage. The two writers' story words remain unchanged. Emoji are drawn by your device and may look different across browsers.
Bottle invitation QR codes
Generated locally with qrcode-generator by Kazuhiko Arase, under the MIT license.
Earlier sea reference
Andaman Sea at night, Moonset, Moonlight, photographed in 2009 by Vyacheslav Argenberg. CC BY 4.0. Cropped and resized for an earlier scene; retained source assets are distributed with the project. The current scene uses the approved artwork and ocean simulation described above.
Crumpled paper ball
Paperball.png by Army1987, 2006. CC BY-SA 3.0. The source image is unchanged; browser transforms animate it.
Paper texture
Free crumpled paper texture for layers, 2008, D Sharon Pruitt / Pink Sherbet Photography. CC BY 2.0. Resized and tinted for legibility and mapped onto a continuous, animated paper mesh for the opening.

Interface references

WeChat’s original Drift Bottle and QQ Mail’s bottle interface inspired the sea, bottom dock and opening ritual. Video supplied by the project owner. Their screenshots and video are references, not bundled assets.

The interactive bottle, dock controls and unfolding geometry are web components. The project is not affiliated with Tencent, WeChat, QQ or the photographers.
